Amazon.com Product Description

Protect your wall from errant throws and other dart mishaps with the DMI Deluxe wall protector. The unit, which slips easily over any mounted, regulation-size 18-inch bristle board, is constructed of a polystyrene and hardboard combo that easily absorbs your darts' worst blows. The durable material is also notably lightweight, so you needn't worry about it weighing down your board's mounting hardware. And thanks to the wall-protecting bumpers on the back, even the hardest tosses won't cause a dent. The wall protector unfolds to 26.5 by 26.5 inches (W x H)--more than big enough for most recreational players--and is backed by a one-year warranty against defects.

  • Large wall protector for regulation-size 18-inch bristle dart boards
  • Polystyrene and hardboard material protects wall from stray darts
  • Wall-protecting bumpers on back cushion against hard, fast tosses
  • Lightweight, durable design won't stress board's mounting hardware
  • Unfolds to 26.5 x 26.5 inches (W x H); 1-year warranty

5.0 out of 5 stars Stops the hardest throws, August 18, 2010

This protector is a life saver in college. Anyone who has been to college knows that damage bills suck. So, recently getting a dartboard I got this along with it. It fits rather loosely over the board with no significant gap. However it never falls off, even when hit with a dart. When it is hit, it makes a loud "THWACK" noise, but darts never get through. The only way I got a dart to go through is by getting my friend, who plays college baseball, throw a 25 gram dart as hard as he could from two feet away. Overall a great product, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad., January 30, 2006

The backboard is more lightweight than the description led me to believe. The visible surface has a felt covering, and feels to be made of stiff styrafoam. It's backed by what seems to be no more than thin pressboard. In addition, it mounts by hanging off of your dartboard. Good or bad, I don't know. But you'd better make sure that your board is in the wall pretty securely if you're going to hang this extra weight off it.

I give this product 5 stars because it does exactly what DMI claims is should do with out hurting your bank account.

I do not have a more expensive wall protector to compare it to, as I opted to purchase this less expensive one first and give it a try prior to spending over $100.00 on a wall protector. It seems to be constructed well. It's made of a fairly dense type of foam covered in black felt which hides holes very well. The felt covered foam is adhered to a hard back board. I have yet to have a dart penetrate through the back board and damage my wall. I even tried throwing a dart much like a baseball from less than a foot away and the dart did not penetrate.

One complaint I do have is size, however, if the players are semi-serious and are actually trying to hit the dart board, this wall protector will catch most strays. One other complaint is that the picture on the front of the package depicting the woman hanging the wall protector with the crease... Read more
