Very functional fiberoptic LED pocket otoscope that makes use of a proprietary Full Spectrum Bright White LED. This is the same LED used in the Dr Mom Otoscope but this model has a nose cone that allows for easy application of disposable specula. This is the model you want if you need a pocket otoscope for clinical use. The real big advantage of this otoscope is the very bright fiberoptic LED lighting with a 100,000 hour lifetime meaning you will probably never have to replace a bulb again. If the bulb does go out for any reason just contact us and we will send out a new one for free. Our competitors pocket otoscope (W/A) bulbs are now running $35-$40. Halogen bulbs are incandescent meaning they contain a fragile filament. These go out with just normal use and much sooner if the otoscope is ever jarred or dropped. The other big advantage is that our proprietary LED uses very little battery power. We have had physicians email us that they have had batteries last 6 months or more. Our LED also has a proprietary DC-DC boost converter that allows it to work even when the batteries are very low. For the money spent you will not find a better value in a pocket otoscope for clinical use.
IMPORTANT: This otoscope makes use of a LED module meaning the LED is mounted on a circuit board to allow for voltage regulation. It also contains a protective resistor and a DC-DC boost convertor. If you purchase an otoscope with a simple LED bulb connected directly to the battery power source without the circuit board and any type voltage regulation the lifespan is reduced dramatically.

One of the fellow paramedics I work with had purchased one and was showing the rest of us how bright the light was. The light was unbelievably bright and when he said that the bulb is guaranteed for life I could not hardly believe it until I read about it myself on Amazon. The otoscocpe is really well built and solid and I can see the tympanic membrane really clearly. It also comes with a pocket clip and 10 disposable specula along with a really nice solid case. The picture of the case on the website shows a zippered case but they actually send it to you on a hinged hard plastic case with a foam lining that appears very durable and protective. More so than a soft pouch would be.I know the last bulb I purchased for my Welch Allen otoscope was almost $40 with tax and shipping added in. I also had to replace the bulbs sometimes a couple times a year This is probably more due to the fact I am pretty rough with the otosocpe since I often carry it... After a few trials years ago, I started avoiding pocket otoscopes because the light intensity was poor and the batteries depleted rapidly. LED technology has changed all that. Light intensity is great - color temperature much better than incandescent or halogen - instrument remains cool - bulb should last indefinitely, eliminating expensive replacements - dropping the instrument does not result in a dead bulb - batteries last a long, long time. This otoscope is great!! I like the on-off switch. I had always set the rheostat to full brightness anyway. My only complaint is that it does not quite accept standard speculums (specula?). Welch-Allyn tips have to be forced on and they tend to fall off in the patient's ear. The brand speculums work just fine but they cost more than the standard ones. The light is very bright and visualization of the tympanic membrane is very clear. It uses a nose cone like a Welch Allyn otoscope so removing disposable specula is very easy. I had been using the companies Dr Mom Otoscope as a portable otoscope to keep with me on hospital rounds but the disposable specula were more of a pain to take on and off with it. I think it was actually made more for home use than for use by a clinician. The lead light on both models is excellent though. The light is really bright yet both models use very little battery power. I have had a set of batteries on the smaller Dr Mom almost last me a year. Granted I only use it 2 or 3 times a week when admitting patients to the hospital but still it is nice to not be dealing with weak or dying batteries or worrying about keeping them charged.
