Product Description

Based on the Gibson space age EXPTM design introduced in 1958, this breathtaking guitar was way ahead of it's time. This is our "modernistic" update to that classic design. Featuring a Satin Black finish with all black hardware and some crazy, hot open coil humbuckers.

Amazon.com Product Description

Based on the space-age EXP design introduced in 1958, this is Epliphone's very modern update to a classic, ready to rock with blazing humbuckers and a wicked all-black design.

Epiphone Goth 1958 Explorer

Be Afraid of the Dark

Epiphone's Goth collection features axes that are the black sheep in the Epiphone family, in satin black finishes and outfitted with black hardware, pick guards, and controls. Adding to the effect is the 12th fret "XII" inlay, for a stark look that's all win.

Goth 1958 Explorer Pickups
High-output open-coil Alnico Classic humbuckers.

Goth 1958 Explorer Inlay
Roman number "XII" inlay at 12th fret.
Riff-Ready

This guitar is no slouch when it comes to delivering the goods for heavy music. A set mahogany neck provides massive sustain and resonance, to match the mahogany body, with a fast 22-fret rosewood fretboard. Dual Alnico Classic open-coil humbuckers provide monster output with plenty of high-end definition, and each pickup gets a volume knob to back things off when you need a bit more nuance (the master tone control is shared).

Dependable Hardware

Get even more sustain with the adjustable bridge and stopbar tailpiece, finished in--what else--black. Die-cast Epiphone tuning machines take up the slack on the other end, providing you with a stable, solid instrument that's ready to gig.

2.0 out of 5 stars cool but.......Expensive, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Epiphone Gothic 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar, Black Satin (Electronics)
Its a nice looking explorer and the price a bit high, adding to that it only has a volume adjuster. Its a good item but for me didn't work well. I love that switch that change from clean tune to a heavy distortion without the need of hovering your leg on a pedal/effect and wait the right time to hit. But unfortunately this product doesn't include that feature it would have been the best if it does. To whom might have bought it and liked it enjoy.
