With that, I'm lucky enough to own a one piece body reissue. Strumming it unplugged, it's very resonant. The single coil p90 is very responsive and can cover a wide range of tones. Do not be fooled: a hot p90 can allow for mean palm mutes(depending on your amp!) and screaming high notes. I do recommend putting on heavy gauge strings, because 9's will be too light and the instrument won't deliver any low end. Gibson used to advertise this model with a slim taper neck, but it's more 50's round(though not as chunky as a '59 neck) than slim. I've played nice reissues side by side with vintage ones, and these can hold up. I had to straighten the neck as soon as I took it out of the box, and re-intonate the wrap-around bridge. The P-90 pickup is adequate, but I immediately fitted a Kinman version, and what a difference I can tell you! Crisp, clear definition at all tone settings, unlike the muddiness the Gibson p/u suffers from when toned down a bit. I feel that the Gibson as...
