The action is just about right for me - a little higher than my Ibanez but very playable. The tone is great - whether plugged in or not. I've never had an in-body tuner before so that will take some getting used to, but very handy. I compared it with my clip-on tuner and they're pretty close to one another. The 9-volt battery that was shipped with the guitar was dead, but I wasn't expecting a battery to be included, so no worries there. There are 3 equalizers: bass, mid-tones, and treble. There's also a phase button that is supposed to help cut down on feedback. You can tell there's a change in tone when the phase button is on. The controls are very simple to use, though it will take some experimenting to find the "sweet spot." There are metal strap gizzies already on the guitar - one more thing I wasn't sure would be included. Secondly, I had the opportunity to play a similar model at a local music store and was very impressed by the tones, action, and playability of the instrument. I haven't played in nearly 20 years, so I wasn't going to spend a fortune, although when younger I owned both a Martin and a very nice classical guitar. The tone is good, I LOVE the onboard tuner, and look forward to getting my fingers working again. I don't see how you could go wrong on this for a student, a casual player, or someone like myself who hopes to recover long-lost skills.
