First off, I'm not sure why everyone is talking about hitting tree's with this. The only reason to hit a tree with a sword is for conditioning of your palms and getting your wrists accustomed to the shock factor. Even that would only last a short time. Anyway the reason this PRODUCT is a five is because it is worth the amount. (It would be much more accurate to call it a short sword, the product description clears states that it is only just over two feet long.) Obviously it doesn't compare to handmade katanas, but few "swords" under twenty dollars outlast anything other than sitting on a wall. Hence the higher rating. Yes, the sheath is not well made. The tip is actually quite sharp and will tear holes in it. No, it is not "razor sharp". People need to realize that all generic factory swords come with a knife style edge. That's not how a sword edge was designed to be. Long story short; YOU WILL NEVER FIND A SWORD THAT IS "RAZOR SHARP"... It's a very small sword, thin as described, and the wrap-cord handle shifts a bit when you hold it, but it's still pretty nice. If I had sharpened it, I can imagine the cloth sheath falling apart fairly fast. The serrated edge is very sharp on mine, while the rest of the blade is rather dull. That's a good thing, though, for a DISPLAY sword. Honestly people, unless you're willing to pay a lot of money, don't expect a sword to hold up against a tree. Like most of the weapons you can buy for under twenty dollars, this isn't meant for that. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Cut trees? Maybe not, but definitely Bamboo!, This review is from: 27" Full Tang Black Blade Fantasy Ninja Sword w/ Sheath (Misc.) So I ordered this sword and when it arrived I thought the package seemed a bit small. Well, I opened it up and lo and behold, it was my new sword! It was a tad smaller then I thought it would be, but still large enough! My friends and I took it straight out of the box and went to my backyard and started cutting some bamboo we had growing there. Well, like a hot knife through cheese (not butter). It definitely cut through the bamboo easily enough. It arrived sharp, looks great, and still has no nicks on it. I am very pleased with this purchase for this price! |
