4.0 out of 5 stars Value & performance/1 less star for service, April 5, 2004

More than good value for money. Well made unit with all you could need to start using a PDA including cradle support software and easy access to development tools. However, I feel slightly cornered into being restricted to the MS platform. It would be great if they opened the architecture of the device to ease developers and users wanting to utilize Linux etc. Also their support is slightly lacking. I bought my unit a couple months ago and it was supplied with win 2002, yet 2003 has been out considerably longer than a couple of months. One would assume that to keep customer loyalty a free up-grade would be offered.

    2.0 out of 5 stars Review of V37 (not V37-2), February 5, 2006

I tried searching the Viewsonic website to find out how the V37-2 differed from the V37 and I couldn't find that distinction. Viewsonic has nothing related to "v37-2". Maybe it was an OS upgrade or something. Here's my review on the original V37.
I received a V37 as a promotional deal that packaged it with a new MSDN Universal subscription (Microsoft's Software Developer tools). It was better than my Palm m505 at the time so I used the V37. I had no complaints for the few years that I used it until recently when I could no longer sync (transfer data between the V37 and my computer). I believe it's a hardware problem with the port on the V37 itself to which the USB cable connects. I don't think it's worth fixing and I can't sell it like that so I recently purchased a new PDA (another brand). Pay attention to the other review for the V37 that points out you can no longer upgrade the OS from Pocket PC 2002 to Pocket PC 2003. I missed out during the short window of time... Read more

This little Pocket PC is a handheld wonder! I've never used one of these before -- but it was easy to hook up to my desktop and I was able to adapt to it immediately. I am impressed with this product. If you're in the market for a pocket PC, this is my definite recommendation!
