I have a 30 year old stratocaster that plays well but the SM-Y2D smokes it with a really fast unfinished birdseye maple neck.I really like the sculpted neck pocket for playing on the highest registers and it fits my hand just perfectly.It came to me with no setup issues such fret buzz dead notes etc. and I doubt i'll even have a setup done. EB Music Man really puts out some really nice guitars and this is a fine example. Top notch finish that you either like the looks of or don't.This has the matching headstock which I don't think the newest models include. The head is approx.1 3/4" shorter than my Strat.and that makes it seem like a smaller guitar even though the neck has 1 more fret for 22 total. The upper horn is approx. 1/2" shorter than my Strat.and the lower horn is about the same.The fingerboard markers are only a 3/32"-1/8" dia. whick I like the look of.The purple sunset is the earlist version and they now come in different colors if purple...
