5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kept Secret. Incredible value, just a fantastic guitar for the money, August 9, 2011
This review is from: Washburn WD45 Series WD45SCE Acoustic Electric Guitar (Electronics)
I am extremely satisfied with my Washburn, this really is a very good deal. They sound fantastic for the price, and sometimes I even prefer it over my Martin D-28.

I originally was just looking for a decent practice electric-acoustic to mess around on and had tried out some of the cheaper Seagull and Yamaha offerings that just sounded kinda bleh compared to quality acoustics. I then saw this (how couldn't you notice it with that kind of flamed maple back?) at a local store for 479 dollars. I picked it up, action was good, neck felt very smooth and comfortable. I played it and was surprised by its clarity and fullness. It is very present but has a nice warmness to the attack of the notes. It is most likely due to the flamed maple back and neck.

Afterwards I went home and looked up the guitar to see its specifications. Everything was better quality than I expected with this, including it having a bone nut and bone saddle with a solid spruce top. While looking... Read more

My wife bought me this guitar as a surprise when my old acoustic started "bellying." In my opinion, for the price range Washburn makes some of the best guitars in the world. I've had this guitar several months now and played it several times live. The sound this guitar produces is fantastic, plugged in or acoustic. It does tend to lean a little toward the higher end but it's still a very balanced sound. If you used some heavier strings it would probably pull the bass out of it a little more. The action was fine right out of the box, no buzz anywhere so far. The electronics are great, I use mine through a 3 band direct in box but it sounds good just plugged into an amp also and the built in tuner is accurate and very convenient. The only things I didn't like were that there is no factory installed heel strap pin and there is no pick guard, not even a clear one. If I played A LOT I would probably want a pick guard seeing as how this guitar has such a beautiful finish. All in... Read more

This guitar is superb! Its tone, action, and looks is just simply amazing.I dont want to compare this guitar to other guitars at its price range due to the fact that this guitar should really be atleast 2 or 3 times its price. Once you pick this one up; it's really hard to put it down!
