I was sent home with Lanolin and had bought a bunch myself too... The first two weeks of breastfeeding, as always, were painful!!! The Lanolin did nothing to prevent or heal my cracked nipples. My neighbor suggested I use Natural Nipple Butter. Its great because it is hypoallergenic for those people that can't use Lanolin. Even better is the fact that it healed my nipples very quickly. Just remember to put some on after each feeding. You'll see. You'll get the comfort, relief and healing you need to keep up with breastfeeding. I've been breastfeeding for 6 months now and have never had sore nipples again. Plus, the best part is its made up of all these natural butters from various plants/fruits so you don't worry about the fact that its getting into your baby's mouth. Awesome side effect, my baby never had chapped lips :) 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:  wish i'd gotten this sooner, This review is from: Earth Mama-Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter, 2 fl oz (60 ml) (Health and Beauty) i really like this product...i just wish i had found it sooner! in the first few weeks after my son was born, i used medela lanolin cream religiously. i had no idea what i was missing! the lanolin was okaay...but sticky and not all natural. this is much better!i started using this the nipple butter when my son was 3 months old. i use it occasionally after feedings, particularly when my son is having a growth spurt and nursing frequently. it's so nice and smooth and glides on gently without ever getting sticky or gloppy. it also smells nice - like natural cocoa butter. it also doubles as THE BEST lip balm! (and i am a huge snob when it comes to lip balms/glosses lol). the only cons are that the product naturally separates and creates little beads that are kind of hard to smooth out. it can be kind of annoying. also, the product is pricey and not available in many brick and mortar stores - the site identified 5 stores in my area that supposedly carry it, but only... At first I was concerned with cocoa seed butter being the second ingredient - was nervous about the caffeine level but research showed that cocoa seed butter does not contain caffeine. The texture is somewhat gritty (the shea butter reaction) but soft on the fingers and go on nicely on the nipple - unlike Lansinoh which tends to be sticky and you feel like you can never get it off your fingers. Absorbs well into skin too. Also note - this is NOT A CREAM. This is a balm. Smell - I am a big cocoa fan so the smell of cocoa (predominant in the product) is such a plus for me. Did it relieve sore nipples effectively? Somewhat... but I also haven't been consistent at using it so it's not fair but I know people with good success rate.
