Buzz! Quiz World is the second release of Sony's Buzz! quiz show franchise on the PlayStation 3 in the US market. Quiz World places players in the role of a contestant competing against others, in the over-the-top yet family-friendly, fictional game show, Buzz!, which is hosted by the equally over-the-top host, Buzz. The goal here is to accumulate as many points as possible through a series of rounds, to become the overall champion. As with earlier games in the series, each player has their own franchise specific controller/"buzzer", (not included in this game-only release), which consists of a large red button to ring in to answer questions/make selections and a variety of other color-coated buttons used for scrolling on-screen options, navigation, contestant customization, etc. One of the great features of Buzz! Quiz World is that it is designed to utilize earlier released wireless Buzz! buzzers. These take advantage of the PS3's USB connections via a dongle, each of which accommodates up to four wireless buzzers, ensuring that there is always room for another buzzer, up to the eight players that the game supports both locally and online. Rounds play out through a wide variety of modes, all of which are focused on fun multiplayer action and compromise both returning play options and those brand-new to the Buzz! franchise. The variety in these is designed to ensure that both casual players and serious quiz fans get maximum fun out of Buzz! Quiz World. Additional features include: PlayStation Eye support which allows players to take pictures of themselves while playing for use as avatars later; online multiplayer chat; AI recognition of over 300 male, female and nicknames that allows Buzz to address/criticize players using your real name; the ability to create and save up to 30 contestant profiles; extensive contestant customization; a standard knowledge base of over 5,000 questions; additional downloadable quiz packs; user created quizzes; and players' choice of preset rounds, or the ability to choose your own. I fully enjoyed that game and found it to be perfect for parties, family events or having fun when I feel like playing a game that uses my knowledge against opponents rather than my virtual bullets. This year, Buzz! Quiz World has come along and instantly taken the place of Quiz TV. Buzz! Quiz World 9/10 The Good: + Slick new presentation with improved visuals all around. + Player Profiles allows individual stat keeping. + Much improved online gameplay over Quiz TV. + Cimpatibe with Quiz TV Quiz Pack DLC. + The categories are improved and many new game types. + Customizeable game types allows you to pick your rounds. + Buzz is less repetitive in his remarks, yet every bit as cheeky. The Bad: - Characters from Quiz Tv seem to be absent. - Still no custom character editor. - Only features English, no Spanish or French language options... The product description is confusing and lead me to believe they "might" work with wireless controllers. I assumed it was the PS3 wireless controllers but they are referring to the wireless buzzers. I didn't know this and now I do. I have not played the game yet so don't know if it's fun or not. I feel a strong urge to share just how incredible my experience with this game over the past year or so have been. This game is perfect for nights where friends come over and can hang around, have a drink, and test each other's knowledge on various subjects! Ever wondered if your best friend has any common sense, is a a fashion guru, or a history buff? Wonder no more, because this game will bring out those answers soon enough! Not to mention it offers online play, where if none of your friends are available, and you don't feel like playing with yourself (lol), you can compete with up to eight other individuals...around the globe!
